Acrylic Self-Finishing Needlepoint Clutch
The finisher wanted $200 and eight weeks. The wedding is Saturday. So, no.
This is a tortoiseshell acrylic box clutch with a 6" x 3.5" window on the front for your needlepoint. Stitch it, trim it, set it in the frame, snap it shut, clip on the gold chain. That's the whole finishing process. You can do it on the kitchen counter the night before with a glass of wine and zero regrets.
It's the bag for the rehearsal dinner, the shower, the gala you got roped into, the date night where you actually leave the house. Tortoise goes with everything, the chain comes off when you want a clutch, and the window means it's the only one in the room. Someone will ask where you got it. Say you made it. Skip the part about the 30 hours.
The details
- 18cm x 13cm x 4.5cm (about 7.1" x 5.1" x 1.8")
- Front window shows a 15cm x 9cm design (about 5.9" x 3.5"), so stitch a 6" x 3.5" design on 18-mesh
- Cut your canvas with at least .25" extra on every side so it fills the frame
- Acrylic with a snap-latch closure
- Removable gold chain strap, wear it crossbody or tuck it in
- Canvas not included. You bring the stitching, we bring the bag
- Wipe with a soft cloth. It's acrylic, skip the harsh cleaners
- Ships from Chicago in 1 to 3 business days
How to finish it
- Stitch your 6" x 3.5" design and block it flat
- Trim the canvas to fit the frame, keeping the unstitched margin
- Peel the adhesive tape, line up the center and press firmly towards the edges, tuck the trim and you do one final press!
- Clip on the chain. Go to the thing. Get stopped by a stranger.
Pairs with any 6" x 3.5" canvas in the shop. Get one for every bridesmaid and let them stitch their own initials. Cheaper than the robes, and they'll actually use it.
